I finally got dvd2svcd program to work to make a good quality
SVCD on my CD-writer using CCE. Now I want to get a DVD writer and make DVDs from AVI files. Can I still use this program dvd2svcd and CCE to do this. The AVIs are from a minidv cam at 720x480. I want to make them play on my 4:3 tv. Is this as simple as turning up the bitrate?????

I have not used the program. But to put AVI to DVD:
1. Launch Virtualdub
2. Load avi file
3. Select Audio --- Full Processing Mode
3. Select Audio --- Compression --- no compression PCM
4. Select Audio --- Conversion --- convert to 44100 Hz
5. Select File --- Save WAV
6. Then launch Tmpgenc and select the avi file as video input and the wav file as audio input
7. Select Load, then the DVD template.
8. Select Start. You file should be ready for the DVD burn.Hello. -
In a nut shell, no. As the name implies it's for creating SVCD's and not DVD's

But go ahead and use my procedure to change your AVIs to DVD compliant files. Keep your DVD2SVCD for other jobs.

The answer is yes and no. You can make DVD compliant MPEG2 video streams using DVD2SVCD, just change the frameserver and encoder settings to proper DVD specs ie. 720x480, DVD compliant GOP structure, etc. However you will still need a DVD authoring program to make an image that you can burn on your DVD-Writer.

Thanks for the help. I want to be able to use CCE to create my mpegs. What are DVD compliant specs. I know I should use 720 x 480 but what should the gop structure be. What about bit rate. Is there a good authoring program to use to create a DVD stream.
