Good good question...I have been trying to do this forever!
It seems like TMPG just refuses to set the movies to widescreen, even when the origional input is widescreen.
Hopefully someone in the know, will help us both out.

  3. In order to assure that the movie will be encoded in widescreen mode with Tmpgenc you need to LOAD the VideoCD(NTSCFilm) template and then go to SETTINGS --- ADVANCED --- Video Arrange Method and select "Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)".

In Tmpeg settings. Video tab set to 4:3. In advanced tab set source aspect ratio to 16:9 and video arrange method to full screen keep aspect ratio.
