I've been trying to figure out how to encode in Tmpeg and preserve the letterboxing and proper aspect ratio. It took me long enough. I was reading a post on another subject and the writer said that there are only two legal formats in DVD,full screen and 16:9. The answer in settings, leave the video tab with 4:3 selected. In the advanced tab change the Source Aspect Ratio to 16:9 and the video arrange method to Full Screen(Keep Aspect Ratio). It works every time,235:1 or 1.85:1. Like I said boy do I feel stupid.

You can't expect to know everything there is about video encodeing right away.

    Seek and ye shall find.
Ask and it shall be given unto you.
