  1. I have encoded the same avi source file three time with three different NTSC DVD templates in TMPGEnc. Every time I have VCDEasy open the MPEG2 file that was created it tells me that the ?x? format is not valid for NTSC. If these numbers are not valid, why are there templates for them and guides saying to use these numbers? The latest one I did was 720X480, but I have tried the 352x480 also. None of the ones I have encoded will open in VCDEasy.

Does VCDEasy like to burn DVD's?? Am I crazy?? If I have to use another program, are there any I can just put the MPEG2 file into without encoding again?!?!?! The last one took almost 11 hours.

    Thank you!

    VCDEasy doesn't support DVD's. It's meant for VCD/SVCD only.

Why don't you try DVDit or SpruceUp.

hi! i have a svcd question that i cant seem to find the answer to. since i;m a newbie and haven't gotten a vcd to work yet (but have wated many cds)... are these files supposed to be in folders?? every program i find puts them in folders. then my dvd player says invalid disk. i've tried 2 diff media (fuji and philips).... i just don't understand how the dvd player can read the mpegs if they are in folders. should i try burning them as a bin file?

Yes, they're supposed to be in folders. The burning program will create the proper folder structure. Are you sure your dvd player plays vcd's and cd-r's? It's the fact that a bunch of dvd players do not play recordable cd's which is probably your problem.

well, that's the thing.. i don't know whether or not it supports them. i do know it plays mp3s i have burned, but as far as vcd and other types of video -- no clue. it's a year old, yet i can't find any info on it. it doesn't say in the manual and it isn't listed in the dvd player database on this site. that's why i just assume it's just me over thinking everything-- trying to make everything just right---but not getting it at all haha oh well. maybe ill buy another dvd player and see... i just didn't want to end up with a bunch of unused electronic parts.

I would be suprised if your DVD player doesn't support VCD format. Even if it doesn't say it in the manual your player probably supports VCDs. You should get a know-good VCD to test the capability of your DVD player.

Also, you need a VCD authoring program (such as VCD Easy) to create your VCD bin image and write it to the disk - it sounds like you're just copy mpeg files to a CD which will work for playback on a PC but will not work for a stand-alone DVD player.
