Here is a long question that I hope has a simple answer.

Here is what I have done so far.

    1) OSeX ripped Streams to .MV2 and .AC3
    2) Converted .MV2 to .MOV with mpeg2decX
    3) Converted .AC3 to .AIFF with mAC3dec
    4) Copied .AIFF and "added" it to the .MOV
    5) Audio was out of sync, fixed it with QT mutilator
    6) Saved new .MOV which is now in perfect sync

Here is what I am missing:

How do I get the .MOV to a VCD or SVCD compliant .MPG so that I can use MissingMpeg Tools to create the .XML file and then use toast to burn the Multitrack XA SVCD ?

Please don't say "Media Pipe" It crashes and is too buggy for me to use. Is there anything else ? (Not Cleaner either, I can't afford it)

I can't export it from QT to MPEG-2 because that makes it back into a .MV2 file. So what do I do ?

TMPGEnc CAN CONVERT THE .MOV FILE TO VCD/SVCD DIRECTLY IF YOU HAVE THE "QTReader.vfp" FILE IN YOUR TMPGEnc FOLDER. SERCH FOR QTReader ON GOOGLE. THEN FOLLOW THE "CONVERT" LINK ON THE LEFT COLUMN TO HELP YOU OUT THE REST.

Sorry jkl, but unless there is some emulator out there that that will let him run TMPEGnc on a Mac that won't work. Someone posted something on how to do this earlier today, so you might want to do a search thru the forum on whether or not they came up with a solution.

The Toast option is no good. Toast makes crappy VCDs. There are no controls on bit rate, splitting etc ... I don't know why but the output is just terrible.

Are there any other options ?

All I want to do is make a .MOV a .MPG and from there I can do the rest. The QT MPEG-2 option makes a .MV2 not a .MPG.

  7. Hi

Any chance of helping us out with you 6 steps?

I have done steps 1-4, then i merge the audio and video together via Quictime copy and add.

The audio is longer than the video.

I use mutilator to sync, but here i get many problems.

when one section is in sync, the other section is out of sync and so on, it is such a pain to get them to match.

any advice on what to do with this.
Also, the file remains at 2 GB, anyway of lowering it to under 700MB?

    Thanks

What did you do with QT Mutilator ? Did you match the duration ?

I clicked on the video track and I matched its duration to that of the audio. This worked for the trailer that was on the DVD that I was testing but it didn't work on the movie.

I am back to the drawing board.
