  1. Over the last few days a new problem has come up on my Windows, all movies, no matter what their aspect ratio is, play in Media Player (actualy, in every player, accept VirtualDub) in a 4:3 ratio so all my widescreen movies look like hell
I suspect that the problem started after I installed the lates Nimo codec pack (5.0 build 8 ) a few days ago (Monday I think...), however, though I uninstalled the pack and re-installed DivX 3 from the original setup file, the problem still happen, can anyone help me solve it? and is it related to the Nimo pack somehow?
Also, I can't open AviSynth scripts in TMPG (only, all other players are fine) since then, just thought maybe it's related, I would be happy if you'll help me with this also...

  2. Windows Media player does not take any notice of the DAR (Display Aspect Ratio Ithink?) flag that says what aspect ratio a video should be played at. I don't know about other software players tho except the DVD players. If you use Power DVD (and I think maybe WinDVD also) in file mode, your movie will be played at the correct aspect ratio, irrespective of resolution.

TMPG >option > enviromental setting > VFAPI plugins > uncheck direct show multimedia file reader.
