  1. Hello -

I just got an ATI AIW 8500. I'm attempting to figure out the best settings for capturing TV broadcasts (mainly half hour to hour shows). I've done a few tests and I'm getting file sizes as big as 3GB for an hour show. I made some changes and I'm now getting file sizes like 400MB for a half hour show.

My question is this, what settings should I be using (ie..capturing in avi, mpg or "ati-vcr" format, resolution, and frame rate)? I'm just storing the shows on the PC for now, till I start getting into making VCD's. I've seen file sizes of like 80 or 90 MG when I'm on iMesh and I'm baffled as to how I can get the size down that much. I know that's minus commercials, but even after take out commercials I'm still at 200+MB.

So if you could give me some hints I'd appreciate it!...Thanks

  2. Oops..I meant Bit Rate instead of Frame Rate on the above post. Thanks.
