converting from huffyuv avi to divx

how do i do it??? read the how-to's but i couldnt find anything.. do i have to convert to mpg first?

Did you perhaps miss http://www.vcdhelp.com/avi2divx.htm ? It's pretty well explains itself.
You must be new here. Try to think of .mpg as a different world from .avi.
It's like a totally different compression, and has nothing to do with .avi.
Remember Divx and Huffy are compressions in itself that's used under an .avi umbrella.(Huffy really isn't for playback but rather capturing, and Divx is great for playback, but shouldn't be used for capturing).
That being said, you also have to ask yourself "What do I want in the end, and what do I have to work with". You'll save lots of hours of searching an learning the hard way.

First off no you don't need to convert to mpeg format first. The tool of choice to do the conversion would be VirtualDub of which I'm sure most people in this forum would agree.
