  1. hi.
    this is what i did:
opened virtual dub, got VBR error (told me to extract full .wav and compress), then I just went to "file" and saved the .wav file.
Then I opened TMPEnc, selected NTSC VCD template, and loaded the .avi file as video and .wav file as the audio source. Then converted.

The video is 23.xx fps so I used NTSC. I also heard people say you have to compress it to an .mp2 file and use that as the audio source. I just used the .wav. When the .mpg was done, i burned it on a cd and watched it on my Daewoo DS-2500N DVD player. Occasionally, there would be a part where the video speeds up and the the vid/audio sync is off, then slows down to normal... then after a while, it repeats. The funny thing was... when I stopped watching (cause it got annoying) and put in the cd and played the same place where it lagged real bad, it didn't happen again.. I'm sure it will slow down and speed up somewhere along the line, but just not in the same place as last time. The audio plays normally though. Oh yea another thing, I checked the .wav i extracted, it wasn't a wav beacuse the hour and 40 min long file was only 85mb and when I right clicked properties it says: mp3, 48Hz, 130kbps... (TMPEnc can make .mpg out of mp3 file?cause i did =/) then after I finished the .mpg with that audio file, on WinDVD's properties, the audio says: 224kbps and 44.1Hz. wierd..

    What should I do??

  2. About the VBR-error: you can just ignore that. It is not really necessary to make a seperate WAV-file. You can first try converting with the original file in Tmpgenc. If there is no sound in your mpeg outputfile, then make a seperate WAV. Make sure to follow the exact steps in the following guide:

About the speeding up on your standalone player: try to burn your vcd at lower speed(I had the same problem. I used to burn at 24x, but now at 8x). It did the trick for me.
