Trying to burn avi to cd :-(

I am trying to burn a cd using nero - I am using nero and have successfully burned one movie, but nero keeps freezing when trying to burn another. The only difference I can see is that the one that worked had "dvd-ripped" in the title and properties show it as a mpeg/video/audio stream, the other movies that I am having problems with show properties as "microsoft video/avi ", I have tried reinstalling nero, using different makes of blank cd's and tried several different downloaed movies.

I have decompressed it and when I try to recompress as a MPG it also freezes - my friend just downloads any movies and burns straight to disc!!! can any one help please.

Any help would be appreciated.

Be More Specific.......

Are you trying to burn them as a Video CD?
- If you are, then thats your problem. VCD's need to be a special type of MPEG file (NOT AVI). Nero will try to convert it for you, and this may be what you think it is freezing, as it takes a long time.

Are you Burning then as a Data CD?
- If you are, then it should work.
