You probably encoded with the wrong "FIRST FIELD" selected, but I am guessing here, because you haven't provided enough information to be able to help you.

Are you encoding 23.976 or 29.976 fps?

i'm using PAL, so it will be 25fps! i think! i'm still fairly new to this, i've been reading quite a bit, and found a few things that could be the problem, non-interlace could be one of them, and using vbr instead of cbr could be another one! any advice would be helpful, thanx!

I am assuming you are trying to convert DIVX or Avi files to mpg. And these a probably in 23.976 or 29.976 fps. As a PAL user you need to convert these to 25fps. If you dont, you will most likely end up with jerky video.

If this is your situation, there are several FAQS and guides here on how to do this properly.

    Try this :

  7. As a Pal user, I would first investigate wether your DVD player and TV can handle NTSC. Most can but many people do not realise this. If this is the case it is probably not worth bothering with a conversion as it can be tricky to get right. Just select the Tmpgenc template that matches the framerate of the source and encode.
