  1. hi ppl, just wondering how (if possible) i would go about having subtitles momentarily on svcd (using dvd2svcd). one example movie would be black hawk down - in some parts of the film there are subtitles when the somali's are talking. i converted the film last night but didnt get the subtitles (btw i didnt choose subtitles in the dvd2svcd options as i thought doing so would display them throughout)

    any help would be appreciated

  2. rocknroll,

Are you saying that the subtitles in those parts of the movie are selectable on the DVD?

I would have thought they were 'hard-wired' in to the picture. Have you watched your converted file and they're not there?

If they are selectable, I would have thought you could just add them in the normal way with subRip or whatever & they'd only appear when they're meant to.

(EDIT: sorry, didn't realise you're using DVD2SVCD - I'm not sure if you can use subRip/textSub/VirtualDub and TMPGEnc to add a subtitle stream to the file DVD2SVCD gives you?)

let me know if I've completely misunderstood your problem!!

    cheers,

  3. you are on the right track..... the subtitles look exactly the same as the selectable ones... however they come and go when they are needed for the parts of the film... i checked my svcd backup before i posted my original msg and they didnt show up... maybe the original has a subtitle track perminatley on for those parts... thats abot all i can think that it could be....

btw i am using CCE not Tmpeg with dvd2svcd....

    cheers
