irritating hissing when capping from vcr

when ever i cap from my vcr i get this loud constant hissing comming from speakers. when i decrease line in volume it decreases but it is still there. its not as bad when i use vdub but wth aviio wow mega hiss.

ps. hissing is not there will all movies. any movie i recently bought i dotn hear the hissing . but with low quality info tapes and tv recordings i het hiss.

What happened when you selected a noise reduction filter as part of your capture configuration?

it seems to be the line in that is the problem. even when the capture is over i still hear the hissing in the background after i close any capture program until i restart machine.

when i use filters in vdub the hissing is reduced dramaticly.

i just got soundforge does anyone have info on how to use it to reduce his in audio? thanks

When you said you reduced the volume, did you mean the Line In recording volume or the playback volume. I remember having a hiss once, and reducing the recording volume helped.
