  1. Hi all,
I'm trying to get a VCD DAT file back to its MPG state, but vcdgear gives me an ETA of 80hrs to grab it off the cd. So i decided to just copy the AVISEQ01.DAT file onto the hard disk to see if that would speed things up ... and discovered a strange problem. I have tested this with loads of VCDs now and always get a dialog box up saying "Error Copying - invalid MSDOS function". Anyone know what that's all about?

And btw, anyone know if there's a prog around that will let you chop bits out of a DAT file? TMPGEnc won't accept dat files ...

    many thanks
    El.

  2. You can try VCDEasy (www.vcdeasy.org) its a freeware; on the "Tools"section under "MPEF Tools" at the bottom you will se the "Cdxa2mpeg" option, just put the address for the .DAT file and name it.... it's really easy..

  5. The "DAT" file contains RIFF headers. It is strongly suggested that you remove them with either VCDGear of CDXA2MPEG rather than simply renaming it to .MPG.

  6. Try using VCDGUI, it converts the .DAT file back into a MPG. Small program works great.
