  1. Hey I looked at this, and I'm wondering would I be better off getting a SVCD player or does it really matter?
    Will this work well?

    heres the link..

  2. I have tried that and could not get it to work. Another person gave me this scenario: "just convert to SVCD with TMPGenc then load the file into the Merge&Cut, select Type as MPEG-1 Video-CD (non-standard) and hit Run". I don't know what he meant by "just convert...", convert what? What file?

IF I understand this correctly, photo resolution on std VCD is 704x480, and SVCD stores a lower resolution in addition to the 704x480, about 352x240. If this is correct, why would you use it for still hotos/slide show?

I can see a gain as far as mpeg video, but not for stills.

I am making VCDs of my slides from my tour of duty in Europe.

Right now am trying putting over 500 pictures on a single VCD, might be a problem navagating though.

Question: can you group them into tracks with NERO?

  4. I have made some very nice looking XVCD movies BUT even with the extra bitrate of 2500kbits it still lost clarity in some areas. It wasn't noticeable in some scenes but if there were small details then you could see the lack of detail. I got a DVD player that plays SVCD and they are far better due to the 480x480 resolution as opposed to the 353x240 of a VCD or XVCD.

For a plain VCD it will be no comparison to a SVCD. I think of SVCD as a semi-DVD movie.
Not only am I perfect but I'm Canadian too!
