  1. I have Vcdeasy full installed. Made fine (s)vcd's. When i wanted to burn a music-cd a got a buffer underrun unless testing went okay. When i try to use directcd for drag and drop i get a blue screen. This problem is solved after uninstalling vcdeasy and reinstalling directcd. Is there a way to let me use Vcdeasy and Directcd both installed?

  2. What versions of the software? I have both on my Win2k rig, and never had a problem with either applications. I have Easy CD Creator 5.x and the same with DirectCD 5.x (sorry don't remember the exact version #).

  3. Windows ME , Vcdeasy 1.1.1 and Directcd 5.0

  4. I dual boot Windows ME and Windows XP. XP works great (newest Direct CD and VCDEasy installed), no problems. On the other hand, Windows ME... well I wish I had installed Windows 98SE instead. Next re-format, I guess.

The point being: If there is a known clash between Direct CD and VCDEasy, it may be system or OS specific and NOT affecting everybody. So my final advice would be: don't give up, it works fine for me, although untested in Windows ME. ME barely runs my DOS games without crashing. I would update your Direct CD software if possible.

  6. It is perhaps a good idea to consider giving up DirectCD altogether. You will have to ask yourself how useful is it really (in this day and age of multi-Gb HDD and really cheap CD media). DirectCD (and its equivalents) can interfere with a number of burning proggies.

  7. vitualis,
I have the following software installed on my normal rig running Win98:
    Easy CD Creator 4.02e
    Nero 5.5.9.0
    WinOnCD 3.8
    CDRWIN 3.8g
    DiskJuggler 3.50
    Clone CD 3.2.1.1
    Plextor Disc Dupe
    DirectCD 3.05
and have no problem with any of them. I still use DirectCD because I like being able to transport large files from work to home without burning. This is where DirectCD shines, at least for me.

In my earlier post, I said Win2k because I have a dedicated rig that burns movies only and serves no other purposes. It does have Easy CD Creator Basic 5.x with DirectCD installed, Nero (same version), and VCDEasy all running happy together.

  8. I don't doubt that you've got all these proggies working together and that's great.

However, there have been many reports where DirectCD (or some equivalent) interferes with other burning proggies. Although you've highlighted where DirectCD is useful, I have the impression that most people don't really use DirectCD at all and have it installed simply because it is part of the default installation of Easy CD Creator.
