  1. Long story short... was captuing some camcorder mountain biking footage using Huffyuv codec at 640x480 and found out that I had more footage than I thought and am running out of space.

My reasoning for doing it that way is obvious. I want to add a few transitions, etc, so AVI was/is the way to go. My final output is INTENDED to be VCD and I am using Medistudio Pro to edit with. I was going to encode the final edited AVI w/TMPGENC for the best results.

OK, now I have come to the conclusion that I will limit the transitions and special effects... edit the AVI clips that I need to and then encode all of the clips individually (long process), and THEN join them using Womble.

That seems to be a decent solution in leui of buying a 200GB hard-drive. I have a few questions I hope someone can help with though...

What is the best template to use for VCD encoding in TMPGENC?

How can I add an audio track (music) after the TMPGENC encoding and Womble joining WITHOUT having to re-encode the video?

    Phew.. and thanks.

Go to www.kvcd.net to use the best templates I have used, although the gurus may have their own favorites.

Before you do your final encoding with TMPGEnc, why not load your video into Gold Wave, load your music video into Gold Wave as well, delete the part of the music file that is longer than your video, then MIX the music with your audio.

Save it as a .wav file, and then encode the video with your new .wav file in TMPGEnc.
    Hello.

  3. That is something I thought of, but remember, I have to encode all clips individually due to HD space limitations. I could do what you suggest, but I would in turn have to be sure that the song/sound files are the EXACT length of the video files. I may be too much of a perfectionist for pulling this off.

I will look into kvcd's templates, thanks for the link.

Since Virtual Dub and Gold Wave measures and cuts files down to the 1/1000 of a second, how much more precision are you looking for?

  5. LOL, I re-read your post and came to the same conclusion. I guess I was thinking ahead of myself and thinking of fading the audio out at the end of the video, and how to pull THAT off.

Can't I just format an MP3 file with a utility to VCD audio specs, then demux the MPEG file and remux with the new audio track?
