Its been awhile since I played with either of these two proggys, but recently I rebuilt my OS using Windows XP and found that both DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc lock up my system. Thus causing a fatal system error, resulting in a minidump/system reboot.
I have the latest versions of both, so I'm convinced that it's an XP problem. Is my conclusion right? Or what...
I used both proggys under Win2K Pro and NEVER has any problems with either. I need help...

I didn't change to XP because of the single computer restriction. You really answered your own question, dump XP. The sheer number of problem I read about it on this and other forums tell me it's to be avoided. Go back to 2000 or 98. New isn't always better.

I'm running XP Home Edition here and haven't had single problem with either of these programs. As a matter of fact the only time I've ever crashed dvd2avi was when I closed it by accident while it was running in preview mode.

I've been running XP (Professional) for several months without a problem, both DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc have run flawlessly. The only problem I've ever had is with TMP converting Quicktime files (lockups), but that happened under 98 too.
