I have just made my first VCD. The problem is that the brightness on the converted CD is too high and the contrast is too lowWhen I view the MPEG on my PC the colours etc look great

I use Nero to carry out the burn and ULEAD videostudio for my editing.
Anyone got any suggestions why this happens and how to get around it![]()

The first thing you need to do is determine if your PC monitor is correctly calibrated. You can find more information on how to do this at:

This is a very common oversight on the part of a lot of people. Then and only then you can determine whether the fault is in the encoding or in the source file. -
To be honest both the original AVI and the MPEG look the same so I guess its the encoder? I use Virtual Dub for that.
I checked my monitor and its calibrated.
