  1. I have captured video and audio from a vcr using virtual dub. This file plays back fine. Then I converted the avi file to mpeg format using tempeg. Video plays back fine, but the audio sounds as if a thousand mice are chirping in the back ground. I went back to virtual dub and saved the audio file as a wav. Tried to convert video and audio wav file to mpeg format again; still have the mice chirping. Converted audio only(no video) with tempeg. This file plays fine. No mice on this audio file. Problem appears to be in Tempeg when I am marrying the video to the audio. Any suggestions please on how to fix this???? Thank you very much for your time.

Try loading your original video into Gold Wave. Do a noise reduction, save as a wave file. Then encode with original video with TMPGEnc as before.
    Hello.

When you capture the video, what are your audio save settings ? If possible use 44.1Khz
If not used Vdub to convert before it saves.

    Audio > full processing mode
    Audio > conversion > 44.1Khz
    SAVE WAV

Obviously you need to fix the problem while your capturing it

  4. Thank you both for replying. I seem to have fixed the problem. I changed the audio capture to the numbers you suggested for conversion. This did the trick. Oh and, compressing the video before sending it to TMPEG also helped!!! (I feel so stupid.) Thanks again.
