is there a fast and easy way to rip 2 vcd's to 1 dvd-r?
I made a bunch of 2 disc vcd movies before I got my A04 and now I want to put them onto one disc each.

You don't have to "rip" DVDs; they generally aren't encrypted.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
Use VCDGear to extract the .dat files from the VCDs and convert them to .mpg. Equivalently you might get away with just copying the .dat files to your hardrive and renaming the extension to .mpg.
You can then join the video with any of the MPEG editing tools listed on this site (e.g. TMPGEnc). Once you have your video in one file you have the choice of either reencoding it to a compliant DVD MPEG2 stream or attempting to author without reencoding as a compliant DVD MPEG1 stream (see guide below)

cool, thanks! BTW, MIRRORIMAGE - I was using the term "rip" incorrectly, I simply meant convert vcd to dvd.
