I want to make a VCD that can be played on my
standalone VCD player, so I used the standard VCD
template in the VideoStudio 5.0. It's works but the video
quality is bad. Very big pixels can be seen on the TV
when played. I have followed all the instuctions in the
VideoStudio 5.0 manual and the book "How to make a
Video CD" that came with the package. How can I improve
the video quality and still can be played on the
standalone VCD player. Please advise!

Step one. Switch to another encoder. I believe ( Feel free to correct me folks.
) that VideoStudio still works on an older version of the LSX codec. Current versions of LSX ( 3.5 or greater ) are pretty decent but the older ones stink!
I suggest using VideoStudio to capture and edit your AVIs, as long as you like using the program, but save them as AVI instead of encoding to MPG. Then get hold of and use a copy of TMPEGenc to do the encode to MPG. Bit more mucking around but a much better result.
Good Luck,

Thanks for your advice, Ian! But how to use TMPGEnc? I have downloaded it.

Check in the 'How To Convert' topic on the left hand side of the page. You should find all the info you need in there.
