I downloaded a mpeg from the net.
tried to play on Media Player but I get the message:
This format is not supported
but when I run it on QuickTime It works fine (As a mpg not as MOV)
I tried to encode with TMpgenc but I get the same message
What can I do to fix the problem?![]()

Some common TMPGEnc problems:
If you get an error message when opening the video or audio like file unsupported
or you get an empty(black) video preview window
or the video look wierd in the video preview window like green or purple or pink
Be sure that you have installed the DivX Codecs (both DivX 3.11, 4 and 5) and also try with the Nimo Codec Pack. If that does not work try to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video.

It works fine on QuickTime and it's not working on MediaPlayer

Maybe they are mov files and not mpg files?

Sorry
I tried changing it to MOV and its not working
it works only as an MPG on QuickTime (and on the file info- on quicktime player- it shows that it is a mpeg) I installed NIMO Codecs.
is there another Encoding software other then TMPGEnc but as good?
