  1. Hi, I've finally managed to get the hang of ripping to DIVX
from VOB files on my hard drive, but there always seems to
be a very noticeable green line at the bottom of the picture.
I've tried cropping the picture during the final stage of joining
the AVI and WAV files in VirtualDub, but the line always seems
to remain there. I've noticed that when playing the DIVX file
in full screen mode that the green line drops down a bit?

I'm following Afterdawn's guide for making the DIVXs, and
it says not to worry about setting crop details in the DIVX 5
settings, because they are later cropped in VirtualDub, but
would these settings give a better result? Could the number
of lines be the cause? From what I've read, I don't think I want
to recrop in VirtualDub, because I'll lose some extra quality?

    Any suggestions muchly appreciated. Cheers.

    Shaneo.

If you use Vdub in the final stage and are using Video/audio > direct stream copy, then the crop filter is not going to work, you need to be in full processing mode to do that work, then it re-encodes all over again if you matched the input to the output in the codec settings, the quality drop would not be noticeable.

If you intend on converting to VCD, then TMPGEnc can do this while encoding.
Have you tried the crop function in DvdX ? No?, I Did, but it crashes mostly
