sometimes when i try to play soemthing on quick time player it says "couldn't find an approriate decompressor" what does this mean and how can i fix it. then when i play the movie the sound is fine but there is no picture?

You either dont have a codec for the video installed or quicktime doesnt like it. Is this a divx file? Quicktime doesnt like divx or MPEG4 files. Try the video in other players, WMP, Real, or whatever you have. If it works then quicktime doesnt like that codec or if it doesnt just download the NIMO CODEC PACK and it will install the needed codecs. More likely though, QT doesnt liek the file format, and only can recognize the audio.
