  1. I am looking into buying a pioneer player but i noticed on the dvd player section of vcdhelp that a few pioneers do not play subtitles. I was wondering if it is just subtitles that you can't turn off and on or subtitles in general. i have quite a few svcd's with subtitles that were encoded with the movie. thanks for any information you could give me.

It is the subtitles that are "turn off and on"-able that do no work on pioneer players(very few dvd players supports that). All svcd with subs in the picure works on all dvd players.

  3. I can absolutely back Baldrick in the Pioneer 535 does not support subtitles. There is no problem playing SVCD's with subtitles - you just can't see them or turn them on and off. That is of cause if they are not hardcoded into the video stream.

Baldrick - Do you know any DVD that do support soft subtitles on SVCD's - I mean, have you actually seen or tried it ?

  4. Thanks Baldrick...Right now i have an Apex 703 that does support turning subtitles off and on but i always encode my movies with the subtitles where they are always on or else i wouldn't even want them at all. I am wanting better quality in my pictures and heard that pioneers give the best quality so i am leaning that way. Thanks again
