PCI Firewire card and a DV cable (usually a 4 to 6 pin one) should be fine! That's what I use.
Oh and some software such as Ulead Video Studio 6.0 (kazaa)

I was using some 3 port one before that. Both worked fine -
To minimize cost, I use a PCI firewire card with MS Movie Maker(in C:\Program Files) that comes with Windows XP. Of course, to install the firewire card if your card doesn't come with a driver, you need to use regedt32 to mess with your Windows XP registry to modify permission of OHCI stuff to install the card. If you need to edit your video, you need software like Ulead Video Studio(usually comes with the firewire card) or Adobe Premiere(expensive).

both my firewire cards installed perfectly fine in windows 2000 without driver discs. i would have thought you wont need one with XP....
premiere is expensive, but on kazaa its free lol
