Burning problems

I am very new to this area of burning movied etc and although I have followed all of the avaiale advice I am still having problems creating the VCD.

I start with the original DVD and rip it using Smart ripper. I then use DVDX to encode the vob files into mpeg files. So far so good. The mpeg files work well with Windows Media player and everything goes well.

The problem comes when I am tring to burn the actual disc. I am using Nero 5.5 and I follow all the instruction on how to set everything up. I then add the mpeg file. Everything is set as described so I start the burn. This takes about 13 minutes to complete.

When I then try to use the disc it shows that there are just a few folders with a couple of files in them that total less than 2MB. It seems as though the mpeg files do not get copied. I have tried this 4 times from start to finish and they all have had the same result.

I am probably missing something very obvious but I really am stuck as well as fed up of wasting CDR's

Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you got the latest Nero? Version 5.5.9.0 is the newest as far as I know. If you don't, download it from www.ahead.de

You should have a few folders on your cd when you burn a vcd, not just 2 or 3. Maybe the new Nero will help. When I encode movies, I use TMPGEnc and I haven't had problems. I haven't used it from files from a ripped dvd, so I don't know if you can use that. I just download my movies and use TMPGEnc with my .avi files.

Another thing I did when I was wasting a lot of cd-r's is I would put my burned movie onto a cd-rw to make sure it worked, then copied the cd through Nero. I don't make any coasters anymore
