  1. For a newbiw like me this would be beneficial. I just discovered how to use different templates like KVCD, but haven't experimented yet. I just wanted to know if there was a standard rule of thumb to make quality VCD's that aren't hugs files.

For example I just found out noise reduction and sharpening filters will help reduce file size. What are some other things as far as constant bitrate CQ settings etc.

Another experiment would be to defy the 224 kb/s standard for audio, as I would like to encode at say 128kb/sec for smaller size. Will this work? With KVCD the audio properties aren';t greyed out like they are with TMPGEnc's standard templates. Thanks.

  2. Load Tmpgenc standard template, load UNLOCK template, save w/new name, modify away. In my opinion, IVTC, VBR, Bitrate Variations, and 128 Audio are the best areas to experiment with, and for VCD particularly, smoothing filters of which there are many. I like Smart Area Smoother for Vdub, I forget which of several filter packs it came with.

Try CCE as well for CVD or SVCD.
