Is it possible to pull a scenes from a dvd without a capture card and then be able to use them in powerpoint?
I dont have a capture card and i dont have a cd writer, any sugestions would be most appreciated.

If you just have a dvd-player on the computer you can ripp the dvd. There is no need for a capture card in that case.

You have all you need. There is a program called smartripper, and one called DVD2AVI, and one called Virtual Dub. You will use your DVD-ROM for Smartripper to take the video, and the DVD2AVI to convert it to .avi.
Then use the program called Virtual Dub to edit which scenes you wish to keep. Of course, then you let Powerpoint use the scenes in your presentation.Hello. -
Ok I've managed to rip a chapter out of a dvd with smart ripper, now i can preview this in DVD2AVI (it looks great just what im looking for) 8) , however there is no sound and when i save AVI i get a 0kb file what am i doing wrong.
I did manage to get a sound file generated but this was in french i think? but then there was no video?
is there an idiots guide to using DVD2AVI?

Just wanted to let you guys that have helped me know, I've got it working now, seems as though I was using an old version of DVD2AVI once I'd got the new one it worked first time. 8)
