  1. HI

    I have 2 questions:

1 How to create very good quality VCD.

2 What program(s) is the best to create VCD from DVD.

    I new in this forum.

  2. Start with those "how to" links on the left (lots of info there).
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

I am not an expert, but through the help of this site and lots of practice, I have been able to make good quality VCD's.

A good quality VCD, depends on the source. If the source is VHS, then don't expect DVD quality. If the source is DVD, the bitrate used to encode makes the difference.

For ripping: SmartRipper (rips IFO and VOB files)
Frameserving: DVD2AVI 1.76 (to make the .d2v and .wav file)
Encoding: TMPGenc Plus (Constant Bitrate 1500Kbps, use source range to adjust the length of the movie. The encoding process takes time. If I have more than 2 I encode while I sleep.)
Burning: Nero (Quick burning, reliable. Simple menus, though)

Everybody uses different programs. I use these because I feel they are easy to use. The programs above are free except for TMPgenc Plus (free version available) and Nero (trial available).

    Hope this helps.
It's not what you know. It's what you can prove.

the first thing you need to do is read.
look through all of the how to section at left concerning converting.
then, decide if you want VCD or SVCD. If your player can handle it, I would do SVCD. I recommend doing 2 pass VBR with TMPG. you will be happy with the results.
what are you askin' me for...
    I'm an idiot!
