  1. I know how to put a DVD onto a Cd using Flashmpeg and the Divx codec. Is there a way to convert a DVD to a VCD and then get it onto 1 Cd?

Do I have to make a Divx encoded .avi and then using TMPGEnc convert the .avi to a VCD anf then burn it to a cd?

Or...is there another way around it?

  2. How long is the movie? I've gotten 95-100 mins on one VCD with acceptable quality. The 100 minute was 330x140 letterboxed to 352x240. I used Sefy's template, changed the encoding to 2 pass vbr, avg bit rate 800, max 1150. I also changed the audio to 112 bits/second. It looks good all things considered. Though, might as well bump the max bit rate up to 1800 to 2200, the avg to 1150, and the audio to 192, and then put the thing on two discs. I use "the changing of the discs" as a good time to get a drink, etc.

  3. The movies vary some small, some more than 100 mins. What version of Sefy's did you use? SeVCD or SxVCD? What DVD Player do you have? I have Sony DVP-S550D

  4. I have done ~100 on one cd (sxvcd actually) using Ligos 3.5. I must admit I did fudge on the aspect ration a bit to do it. I wouldn't recommend it unless the original is 2.35:1 ratio though. the closer to full frame you get the more bits needed to encode the picture. Widescreen movies will yield much better results (as far as blockiness at least). My setting in LSX where:

352x240 (letterboxed to about 352x144 hence an aspect of about 2.44:1 instead of 2.35:1 that's where I fudged)

    video: 352x240 mpeg2 vbr 900 avg 2500 max
    audio: 128 joint stereo

The picture is actually pretty sharp and almost no blocks but you get a little banding in the solid colors at times. I prefer this to blocks however which is why I use LSX (among other reasons). Tmpgenc gets blocky, whereas Ligos does a good job (IMO) on the blocks but bands the colors a little more....
