I have an AMD 1.7 proc. with 256megs of ram. A 20 gig hard drive with close to 17gigs free. I am using a WinTV Go capture card and I am having 2 problems. First, I seem to be dropping what appears to be alot of frames ( a couple hundred over 40 min.). The second problem is that after about 40 minutes or so I get a message that says AVI OUTPUT: The parameter is incorrect. I cannot figure this out. I am using VirtualDub to try and convert VHS to AVI and I am getting nowhere. Ive tried using all the setting and compressors listed in the HOW TO CAPTURE section and still no luck. By the way DMA is checked on my hard drive, and nothing else is running while trying to capture. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.![]()

Are you using NTFS or capturing to a segmented AVI? Sounds like you are hitting the 4 gig limit. Also, you may need a newer, more high-performance drive. If you are capturing to your boot drive, that also may be the problem with the frame droppage.

I dont know how to tell if I am capturing to a segmented avi. I also thought the 4 gig limit only pertained to partitioned hard drives. I have a 10 gig hd with my OS on it (98se), and a 20 gig hd that I am trying to capture too.

4 gig limit is any FAT32 partition, which all drives are partitioned even if they only have one. Somewhere in program it will indicate Segmented or not, you have to use that for win98 or keep to short captures. That is almost certainly your problem.

Thanx for the help
I read about the 4gig limit on fat32 but I was under the impression that you would have too have your hd set up as fat32, obviously I was wrong. Thanks once again
