  1. I've made a bunch of SVCDs and they all played fine on my buddy's DVD player. (I forget what he has I think it's a Samsung.. andyway thats irrelevant.) I just got a Pioneer DV-343 which is supposed to play SVCDs. When I put the cd in the player lists it as a Video CD PBC, and when I hit play, the film comes up just fine for a half a second, then it kind of splits the movie in half. The left half of the screen plays the movie properly, but just scrunched up, and the right side of the screen shows the first 25% of the left side of the movie. That sounds confusing, I know. But if you know what I'm talking about please tell me how to fix this problem.

  2. the SDE display tags are wrong. there's a utility called "fix12c.exe" that will allow you to set them correctly and it takes care of that problem. just search the forums, i've posted this solution a dozen times plus links to the program. (it lets you parse them without reencoding, and it takes about 5 min per hour of video). just extract the .dat files, run them through, and re-burn.

    in the start\Run in windows
    fix12c "filename" -v 480 -h 480

you can also fix your TMPG templates too, just read the old posts, but this involves reencoding.

I had the same problem until start using TMPGEnc 12f and NERO 5.5. Max video bitrate 2600Kbps. & sound 128Kbps.
Probably you'll see "underwater" or "mosquito" effects on heavy scenes from MiniDV sources...
    I stay at VCD (BR @ 2050Kbps ! )
