Hi, I have been looking around the forums for a while and i can't find anyone that actually has fixed gradual audio/video syncronization problems. Is there any way. Because i just captured a mpg from VHS and it is ok but the audio is AC3 or something and whenever i convert it with cce Ulead DVD WS or tmpgenc the audio always gradually gets out of sync. If anyone knows how to fix it i would appreciate it if they posted it. Thanks in advance.

I keep having this issue. I capture a dvd being played by my set-top into my s-video in on my ati7500, and when I burn to DVD, the movie starts out in perfect synch, but by the time the movie ends, you can tell it is off by a split second. It isn't that noticeable, but it is wierd. The change is not at some specific point, it is a gradual change from the beginning to the end.

You need a TIME BASE CORRECTOR! This will solve all your synch problems. Go to this link: http://www.videoguys.com/datavid.htm#tbc1000

When I capture video with Studio 8 it often has audio sync probems. When I capture with VirualDub, perfect sync. Virtual Dub even has a setting to lock video to audio but I have it off right now and have no problems.
I then encode with TMPNGenc. I have not seen TMPNGenc add any audio sync probems. -
The sync problems don't come when i capture the video it is when i convert it. Anyways i can't use virtual dub with dazzle dvd creation station 200 can I. The only reason i need to convert it is because it is not standard dvd compliant with AC-3 audio. When i try to Demultiplex the mpg TMPGenc says illegal dolby ac-3 stream. So i just demultiplex the video and frameserve the mpg with dvd2avi to get a wav audio file. Then i convert the wav to mp2 and multiplex with TMPGenc with the mp2 and m2v. It is still out of sync even though the movie and audio file are both the same length. Any Ideas of what to do. Thanks for helping me and i hope we can figure this out.

We would have apparent perfect synch when captured, but when we authored with DVD-It, it would be out of synch. When we used the Time Base Corrector, no more synch problems. This solution has been reported in other forums as well. The primary reason you get the synch problem is the result of the degradation that takes place on the VHS tape-the older and more frequently played the worse it gets. I have also found that Virtualdub will normally keep synch with reasonably good source material.

Thank you everybody for all of your help. I figured it out. When i convert, instead of doing the whole thing at one time I split it up into 3 conversions. Then I just merged them together.
