  1. I encoded a cd with some dvd video. I made it using ulead video studio 6 and then used there authering plugin. The video is 704x480 mpeg 2. It plays fine on my computer and someone elses computer that i tried it on but it won't play on my samsung s221 dvd player. What would the format of this cd be called and does anybody know where i can get a dvd player that would play it?

  2. That is a mini-DVD, and they do look and sound beautiful - if your hardware can play them. While a PC plays them, the vast majority of stand-alone players do not. I'm not sure about that 704x480 resolution, as the few I have done have been in 720x480.

Go here for a list of players that may be able to play mini-DVDs.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  4. For one thing, the file structure. The mini-DVD has the same file structure as a full-size DVD (VOBs, etc), but the SVCD has an SVCD file structure.

By the way, while most players won't play a mini-DVD at all, some stand-alone players will not play a mini-DVD on CD-R media, but will play a mini-DVD on CD-RW media.
