  1. I was just wondering if it is possible to playback a ntsc vob file from a film source at 23.976 instead of 29.97?My pc struggles to playback a 29.97 vob file smoothly.

It can just about manage 24fps out of 30fps (looking at the stats window in wmp6.4 using the elecard mpeg2 filters) so I would like to ask if anyone knows how to strip out the pulldown flag.I know you can use dvd2avi to create a 23.976 avi file (using forced film) but I would like to keep the vob file and just change the frame rate.

With a stand alone hardware dvd player the television needs a 29.97 signal but on a pc I can see no reason why playback cannot be 23.976.I mean what is the point of showing the extra frames when they are not needed and make more demands on the cpu.

Hope this makes sense and someone knows the answer. Thanks for your time.Cheers,JIMBO!!

  2. Unfotunately, I don't think this is possible. As I understand it, you would either need to slow down video playback by 5 FPS (UGLY!) or actually strip out roughly 1 in 5 frames (which would require creating a new file like you said using DVD2AVI).

    Could be wrong tho

    Good Luck
