    I have an ABIT AT7 montherboard with IEEE 1394 Firewire connection.
    My graphics card is a ATI RADEON 8500, 64MB DDR, DVI AND TV OUT.

    Can I transfer video from my VCR to my PC ? and if yes can someone indicate a place to start ?

    Welcome to the wonderful world of video capturing. That is what you want to do (transfering video from your VCR to your PC, as you put it). You should read the newbie guides first, but if you can hardly wait to get started, here is your answer:

    as far as i know, you cant.. or atleast i think you cant..

    youll have to use coaxial cable wire or composite audio/video wire...
