Hi!
I have experienced a few problems trying to encode a Video CD file converted from avi.
The TMPGEnc program I originally used didn't work when I tried to convert avi to mpeg1. The file was all black and distorted with no picture. I had all the DixX codecs required as well as the Nimo one, but it doesn't seem to work, and changing the priorities of DirectShow has no effect either.
I then tried the avi2vcd program, and that encoded the picture fine but it had absolutely no sound with it![]()
If anyone can point me in the direction of a program that works without problems for converting avi to Video CD (MPGE1) format I would be very grateful.
Cheers
John

TMPGEnc works very well !!!
Start by loading the AVI into Vdub and scan for junk frames... Don’t skip this or TMPGEnc will giver errors. At the same time, Vdub will give out other warnings if the AVI has problems, like VBR. The AVI should be saved out using streaming, and you may need to separate the audio, before moving on to TMPGEnc
