  1. Here's the idea : placing a Autorun file on the S/VCD so that Windows Media Player would play the .dat file instantly.

    But I was thinking :
    • Would a stand alone DVD player still recognize and play the VCD?

      Could this be used with other file types, other than autorun ?

      If the VCD contained menus, would a Media Player handle them the same way as a Stand Alone player?
    In order to place the file on the VCD i tought about creating and burning the VCD like usualy onto a RW disc, copy the content to the HD, add the file needed and then burn it all back onto a regular CD-R. Any other ways to do this ? or better yet, any points to take into consideration before wasting time on this ?

  2. [autorun]
    open=start mplayer2.exe /play /close \MPEGAV\avseq01.dat

    Use the above for your autorun file and place it in the root directory. DVD players will ignore this, any other file you put in the root directory, and additional directories as well. Just drag and drop the file onto the VCD root before burning, no need to burn, copy, and burn again.

    Software players and menus apparently don't mix well. The only VCD I have tried had a somewhat complex menu, though. But you have to use the "remote" buttons in the software, it seems cumbersome so I went to simply playing the vid. Also, I think the above autorun will bypass the menu but I'm not certain.
