  1. Hello,

I have burned a VCD with TMPGEnc.
The stream type: MPEG1 - video
    Size: 352 X 288
    Aspect ratio: 4:3 PAL
    Frame rate: 25 fps
The rate control mode was set to: CBR (constant bit rate)
The bitrate was set to 2900 kbs.
The motion search precision was set to: High quality.

I have successfully played the VCD in the ASUS DVD of my computer.

But when I tried to play the VCD in my standalone MARANTZ DV4100, the DVD played for a few seconds and stopped and again played a few seconds and stopped, and again....

When I burned the VCD in bitrate of 1150 kbs, and tried to play it on the MARANTZ DVD, there was no problem and it played continuously, but the quality was deteriorated, in contrast to the 2900 Kbs which had high quality display.

What should I do to see the movie in high quality on the MARANTZ DV4100 ?

  2. Not all DVd Players will play VCD's encode passed 1150, some can push a little higher, try it at 2000, then if thats ok, just keep bumping it up a 100 until it starts to skip again, my Panasonic won't play anything over 2600, now my Daewoo and Sampo will play all the way upto 7000 bitrate.
Just try a 3-5 minute test at different rates, burn 3-4 different tests on one disc and name them in the menu's like 2000, 2100, 2200 so you tell see which ones are playing.
