Hi people,
Newbie here needs help. Have converted an avi. to mpeg. using Nero 5.5 encoder, (which took 2.5 hours btw), when viewed on PC great picture, when viewed on standalone dvd player, picture is watchable, but the frame rate doesnt seem right, the film seems to be running slightly ever in slow motion ?
What can i do to correct this ?
All help would be appreciated.

They always say that if you can view it on your PC then it is likely to be your DVD player that is at fault here. Firstly, check in the compatibility section on this web page to see if your DVD player will play the disks you are burning to. Some are fussy and only read certain types or only CDRW, others read none! Also, burn your disks at the slowest speed possible. I use 4x. I know that the disks say anything upto 32x but have you ever compaired two disks, one burned at 4x and one burned at 32x? There is a big difference in the quality of the burn (the information on the disk isn't as 'distinct' so-to-speak) and some DVD players have trouble reading these. Also, check that your DVD player will play the format of disks you have made (NTSC or PAL). Some have trouble with the NTSC film (23.976fps) format since the disk is read and internally converted to 29.976 by the DVD player before output to the TV so you may want to try converting to 25 or 29.976 but try to avoid this since it will just make your VCD run 'unsmooth'
