Is there a way to burn a DivX movie onto a CD-R disk, and make it playable in a DVD player?

NO !
It has to be converted into a format your DVD play may play, like VCD SVCD -
Well I figured as much and I hope that not such an assholish answer comes from this. What I meant was, what steps need to be taken, and what software used, to do so.
