  1. can anyone tell me what causes this and how to prevent it?
    im using the latest verion of all software (tmpg,dvd2avi,smartripper)
    and converting useing standard pal template
    running a 1600+ processor with 512 meg of memory dont get it every time i convert but just on certain films anyone with any ideas please

  2. If you are seeing horizontal stripes these are interlacing artifacts, OK for TV but ugly on PC. Read up on De-Interlacing or IVTC.

    This will occur when you have selected the wrong "first field". Select the field other than the one that you did when you encoded and see if these lines go away.

  4. tried reversing interlace setting and also changing the field order
    still no change
    this only appears to happen when ripping a dvdr any other ideas please

    What is your source (ie, interlaced or progressive)? Don't try to encode a progressive stream with interlaced settings.
