i bought an a04 (at least i think) and the first firmware flash i did gave me heaps of unintelligible errors... windows shows it as a pioneer 104 1.2.... i dont seem to be able to burn any video on it, or play any dvds... if ive stuffed my player is there any way i can fix it with another firmware update??? or should i just play stupid and return it to the place i bought it? only bought it 2 days ago

The 104 is the OEM version of the A04, so if you used an A04 firmware upgrade, then you should be OK. Just a thought, change the DMA mode to PIO mode in the OS you are using. For example, if the drive is on the Secondary IDE Channel as a Master, then you would open Device Manager and go to the Secondary Controller under IDE/ATAPI Controllers. Then double click the Secondary controller, and change the Master to PIO Mode only. If your config is different, change accordingly based on the example. Also, did it ever work?
