  1. I am working on a project in Ulead Mesdia Studio 6.5 and wanted to test the video out that I am working on a VHS tape. I have a firewire connection outputted to a Canopus ADVC100 converter box hooked up to a Hi Fi 4 Head Toshiba VCR.
I am able to print to tape from MSP 6.5 with no problem (once I figured out my VCR had to be on L1 instead of channel number).
However when I viewed my VHS recording I noticed some frame freezes in the tape as well as motion blurring when ever there was movement (like people walking down an isle), which almost looks like they are in slow motion.
Was this caused by exporting from the timeline?
Would it be better to save an AVI file and convert it to an MPEG2 (in TEMPEG) and then send it to tape?

My settings are AVI DVD quality settings 720 x 480: 29.97 FPS: 16 Bit Stereo
My system is Sony Vaio Desktop Workstation:
    P4 1.6 Ghz
    64 mb NVIDIA Geforce Ti
    Integrated Soundmax Audio Card
60 GB 7200 Partitioned Ineternal Hard drive
120 GB 7200 External Firewire HD
    512 Mb DDR Ram
    Firewire/USB

    Thanks fro the help,

  2. Hmm..

Problem may be in the speed of the firewire connection.

Try a clip without added transitions and so...to see if it has the same problem. Also use 7.13.xx newest Studio 7 (08-04-2002 US), they fixed some fieldorder problems..otherwise the advc100 should do the job just fine.

Let me know if it worked.

    greetz.

  3. Oh yeah... it also has problems with TI based firewire chipsets. The advc-100 I mean.

You might want to check that.

  4. Thanks for the reply. I only have 2 trasnitions in the video which is at the beginning. The rest of the scene changes are just cuts, so the video is pretty raw. As for the Ti chipset, I talked to canopus when I first recieived the Canopus and it didn't work (but that was because teh ADVC100 can't be inputed through a hub like I had it so it's inputted through my extenal Firewire Drive and works fine) and he informed me that my card would work fine with no problems.
Someone on another board suggested that I try Field A instead of field B which it wa set at. Also I have read about problems with Sony Vaio Computers and the Print to Timeline function in MSP.
So I am going to render out an AVI file and convert it to an MPEG 2 in TEMPEG and export to tape using SOny's DV Gate software and see how that works.

    Thanks again for the feedback,
