  1. Hi All I am having trouble converting DV for use on my LG DVD DV4941P the quality of the image is rubbish.

    Capture video via Firewire
from a Sony DV30 video Camera
Software Ulead or adobe Premier (both capture same quality)
When I view the captured video (AVI) at 100% the file view great 200% looks pixelated and full screen is terrible total blocky.
I go ahead convert to MPEG1 with TMPG
cut with nero create VCD the image looks just the same.

Can anybody help me do I not understand why is my video so crap

    Process
Capture with an ulead fire wire from a sony DV camera, image quality on PC great.
    (p4 500mb ram, 80gig HD 7200rpi gforce graphics)
Using TMPGEnc to RIP to meg1 or 2 (2 will not play)

    thanks

  2. If you want full quality...encode a SVCD using TMPG template. Burn this to cd using NERO SVCD template.

Should work...if your player supports is.

You can play either a max of 2400 kbit/sec or 4800 kbit/sec including audio. Try both settings in TMPG. One should work. If not, use another dvd player or buy a dvd burner.

For best quality, use DVD resolution X-SVCD. about 30 minutes on 800 MB cd using 192 k audio. Use an average bitrate of 3500 and a max of 4500, depending on the player.

Install DVD playback software on the pc to be able to play MPEG II files.

    Greetz.

  4. Are you sure you are not tranferring in previeuw quality... normally programs transfer the movie in a low quality for editing and afterwards it will get the movie in high quality... this may be your problem...

Try the tryout version of Studio 7 (pinnacle).. it's a simple program, but it let's you know what you are doing...and how.

I think this is your problem.

When you tranfer video in DV quality using a DV codec atd DV resolution the picture should be perfect.

Keep in mind that you are looking at interlaced video that may show artifacts (horizontal lines next to moving objects) This will go away when watching on a TV set.

    Greetz.
