VCD & SVCD to DVD

I have 300+ music videos in VCD and SVCD format that I would like to convert to DVD. I understand VCD's resolution is supported on DVD, but SVCD is not widely supported. I want to convert all videos to DVD and ensure that the DVD I author is near 100% compatible/supported as possible and plays even on the lamest DVD player.

Is this possible??? If so, how do I go about this and which programs do I need???

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm basically asking for the best possible compatibility method for VCD/SVCD to DVD conversion. (I think my original post sounds confusing)
