rrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiight... ok... he's finally snapped. So you can afford this 24k RSX but instead of going out and driving it to places, such as the movies, you sit at home, alone (apart from the parents upstairs) on your computer.. yay, good for you and also real believable.

A. I still go see most (good) movies that I download in the theater. Plus the fact that i can watch all or prat of a movie before I go pay to see it on the big screen should make them make better movies. I dont think my plan would effect ticket sales at all for good movies! Now that said I think it would kill the ticket sales for a lot of the crap holywood gets away with and that would be a very good thing!

So in another post you do go to the movies though?

You know ... if it wasn't for the industry, we wouldn't even have the movies in the first place.

Secondly, Guys like us that rip the dvd's and set up camcorders in the theaters are the ones that make it possible for other people to download the videos. So if it wasn't for us you'd always have to pay for the movies anyway. Besides, I don't know anyone that would pick DivX over DVD.

This is a learning process for some of us and a business for others and yet something else for the rest...

i have to agree with lantry on this one. before someone says piracy kills the movie and music industries, remember all the millions of dollars that music artists, hollywood actors, producers and directors make. i mean 40 milllion dollars for will smith for men in black 2? come on! or 20 euro or dollars for a cd that costs about 50 cents to make! but lantry, if you want a "lame dvd" there is nothing to stop people copying them. what about dvd burners?
the music and movie industries will never collapse because some fool is always willing to pay rip off prices for dvd's and cd's.

Please... Men in Black 2? Attack of the Clones? Blue Crush? Fast and the Furious? You guys talk about how horrible these movies are and how you don't want to pay money to see them. So you DOWNLOAD THEM? Doesn't that mean you wanted to see it and didn't hate it after all? So why are you complaining about the state of "Hollywood"? You obviously enjoy what they're producing, yes?

No unseen force has ever driven me to see any movie I didn't want to see to begin with, even if it was free. I will gladly pay my $7 to see the next PT Anderson movie, and the next David Fincher movie, and the rest of The Matrix trilogy, etc. etc. Why? Cause I'll have a great time, and I love supporting the artists. Even if you downloaded the DIVX, burned it to VCD for me, and shipped it to my front door 2 days before the movie was even released, I wouldn't watch it. F*ck DIVX.

there's noting wrong with buying a dvd of a good film as long as it's released at a reasonable price. the reason why people ripp off bad films as well as good ones, is because it gives great satisfaction to know that you've robbed a studio that had the cheek to release this crap and that you have'nt paid full price for a stinker!

as for divx, my internet connection is to slow for me to download shit like the fast and the furious. there are much quicker and easier ways to "get" movies if you want to.

I mostly download stuff that was never released commercialy and never will be. As far new moveis go I've only downloaded stuff I wouldn't pay for anyway. If I like it enough I'd still buy the DVD anyway.
