  1. file plays with hissing sound in the audio. In other words, the audio quality is not as good as that in VCD. Of course, I use TMPGEnc. Any suggestions?

  2. I asked a similar question and I saved this response:

try increasing the priority on the wave file reader in tmpg. options>environmental settings>vfapi plug in. right click on the wave file reader and increase the priority by 2. hope that helps ya
Forgot who said that, but props go out nonetheless. The option is very easy to get to and change. Worth a try. I have yet to see if it will fix my specific problem, but I'm pretty sure it will resolve your hissing, if the problem is in fact with TMPGEnc.

  3. The sample rate conversion and mpeg 1 layer 2 audio compressor in Tmpg are not too shabby but are certainly not the best around.

Try demuxing the audio from your source (what source is it exactly?) using graphedit (with the relevant filters intalled), sample rate convert with ssrc (shibatch sample rate convertor) and finally encode the audio with toolame.

Encode the video as normal with Tmpg and mux the audio once done.

Or try if you can do without sample rate conversion at all! Unlock the template and set the audio to 48000. This will save processing time and preserve audio fidelity IF both your player and preamp/decoder/processor handle the 48kHz stream. My system does.

Nero will compain about an incompatible audio file. Ignore.

  5. Try to use a third party sound encoder like Lame (go to tools to get it). I have done that since a few weeks (and movies) and it works great).

Or you could even demux sound and video, encode video first in TMPG and the wave with too Lame and remux.
